Because a condenser and a furnace were both being installed, this was a 1 1/2 day job. Other than cycling the units on turn-up and walking through their operation, including the Nest thermostat, I was hardly aware anyone other than myself was at home. With the changeable weather, I've had a chance to cycle both the A/C and the furnace. Both seem very efficient. Yes, I'd recommend Grapids.”

    “Based on other reviews, I rang these folks up to see about scheduling a duct reconnection (Spare BR was left unheated by the previous HVAC vendor...who told me that someone would call me back to schedule, never happened). My appoint was made for the following day, with a time frame. As the beginning of that time approached, I got a call from their fellow, who said he'd be here in ten minutes. He was. He assessed the issue, he spoke with HQ, he said he would go pick up the parts he needed and be back within 45 minutes. He was. About 90 minutes later he'd completed the work, and the spare BR was now getting heat. He also re-aligned a support from a duct. He moved all his stuff to my front porch, typed up an invoice on his phone, e-mailed it to me. I wrote a check, and he departed. After working my way through lists of contractors who show up late if at all, leave and don't come back, re-schedule again and again, it's a relief to find a company whose employees value my time. If I need more HVAC work done, I will call you again. A+++++++”

The technician, Eric, however, shut the furnace off after finding serious and potentially dangerous issues with the heat exchanger. He made sure I understood and saw the worn parts. I needed a furnace immediately since it was December and very cold. They could not install one the same day so they put me on a priority basis, dropped off three space heaters in less than an hour to keep us warm and showed up promptly the next day, on time, with a new furnace. Angus, the installer, had the unit running and tested in (5) hours. He left the area very clean and took time to explain what he did and how things worked. Amazing service and customer care.”

First we called another firm and their serviceman said our system was low on coolant and he was legally required to find and fix any leak before he could add any more coolant in. He also said he would recommend we scrap our 13-yr old system for a new one at about $3,500 to $4,000 and he said they were 2-3 weeks out in scheduling a new installation. We paid $134 for that 'service' and sent him on his way. Then, based on a recommendation from our son, we called Grapids and they came out the next day. They also said our coolant was low, but not more than would be expected from a system this old, just based on expansion/contraction of the seals around fittings. They replaced those fittings and said it would be pointless to try to find any leaks, because the amount we were down was within what would be expected. They recharged the system and its running great and they said it should be good for another 4 or more years. That cost under $400. They did say if we wanted an entirely new system, they could install it within 48 hours. We really appreciated the straight-forward and honest approach. We would highly recommend them.”
